Yes! So often, I see people who think that a slice across the jugular is an immediate kill! You got it right, Stab through the carotid artery cuts blood flow to the brain, and is also right near a nerve (Can’t remember the name of it) That controls the heart and lungs. Knife combat geek reporting in with thumbs up.
…Of course Schtein would know to hit him there. He’s a scientist.
…Or you could use a few pounds of pressure and collapse his windpipe. Oh, and jam it into his spine and therefore make him paralyzed from the neck down and let him suffocate….
I know too much about things…I should stop watching t.v…..
You know, if you don’t mind my suggestion, I think the very first panel could probably stay black and white because it’s through Schtein’s point of view and he’s color blind. :) I also thought that the page wasn’t colored because Schtein was dieing at first XD but you also do a great job at coloring, so that’s good too. ;3
If it was truly Schtein vision, I think there would be a lot more shade of grey, anyway. They both monologued instead to kill first and gloat after. And for Schtein not fainting, I think it is due to adrenaline. In all case, he is bleeding, living a easy to track trail for the wardens and he will need medical help.
Holy crap. And I have to wait until next week for the next page… You craft your story so wonderfully—always the constant tension, and then those bursts of suspense!
Not to mention this is pretty much the first time Stein has willingly killed someone in the comic…
Schtein is hardcore but mainly for pulling the knife out of himself.
Most folkses would probably faint, especially scientists and other less physically skilled/trained.
I’m sorry you have the flu! I can’t wait for this page to be in color though, because then my question will be answered: Is that Schtein’s blood trailing behind the weapon or his entrails coming out of the wound? I’m going with blood, because it disappears in panel seven and if that were his entrails it’d be pretty disgusting. :(
And now Drew continues on to break the 3rd rule of evil monologueing: Do not risk a monologue when the victim is in an EXTREME state of desperation/hysteria/corneredness with a weapon nearby. Schtein technically broke this rule too on the previous page, but I would say Drew broke the rule much worse than Schtein and paid for it.
I like how much blood is everywhere. Soooo… the warden is going to be pretty pissed about this. But I very much doubt she will lay the hammer on him immediately, because she would have done so otherwise. If anything, she’ll start handing prisoners weapons and deals to get out early for torturing him. Anyone’s thoughts on where Schtein is headed to now?
My bet would be infirmary. Betcha phineas is going to hang out and applaud. Any other bets?
if Schtein is going to join that evil organization Phineas belongs too and be a super villain, he’s going to need to read the Evil Overlord list! Of course, it looks like he got a first hand lesson in the most important tip: Kill before monologue.
Can just imagine him staggering into the infirmary: Hey doc, uh, I have an ache in my stomach *collapses*
I love that you’re relieved to not be doing his tattoos anymore. Or, are you trying to pull a fast one on us… and he’ll come back? Maybe as a zombie? That would be both hilarious and sucky.
Holy wow.
I don’t think I can say anything that hasn’t already been said on this turn of events, so I will say I am in love with panel 3, especially the background.
Jesus, now that it’s coloured, I can actually hear the shank going into and out of MacManus’ neck. Hearing the blood squirting is starting to freak me out a bit haha. This is all wonderfully done by the way. Schtein had better get into the infirmary quick.
Was wondering what happened to the color
Oh man! Right in the neck! Just like he told him to! So hardcore.
This page is pretty hardcore, definitely! Now I have to keep upping the ante. :U
He’s gonna have to stab a million people-all the while doing a wheelie on a totally rad hog.
Yes! So often, I see people who think that a slice across the jugular is an immediate kill! That, and it’s not a slicing tool in this particular story. :P
I got it right by pure guessing. Hoooray!
THAT’S WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU MESS WITH THE SCHTEIN
No words for the emotion power of this story. Wow.
OH YEAH! RIGHT IN THE NECK! Took Phineas’s suggestion, right?
I glimpsed the first line in my reader and went “Oh crap oh crap.” I was still saying that by the end of the page. Awesome.
You know, if you don’t mind my suggestion, I think the very first panel could probably stay black and white because it’s through Schtein’s point of view and he’s color blind. :) I also thought that the page wasn’t colored because Schtein was dieing at first XD but you also do a great job at coloring, so that’s good too. ;3

that would be interesting, but I’d find it a bit jarring. I usually only really do that if it’s important that I show it’s his point of view.
Very, very nice.
Aaaaaaahhhh! It’s so noir in black and white. I’m glad Schtein won but oh man that’s awful!!
A great thing in being officially dead must be that one cannot be prosecuted within the official legal system.
That makes me wanna fake my death.
The flipside is that that legal system can’t protect him.
After killing some high rank army officials and a bunch of other people too, I don’t think one wants to have anything to do with the legal system.
Surely death penalty exists in this universe and is as popular as ever; war tends to quench the social values.
Holy crap. And I have to wait until next week for the next page… You craft your story so wonderfully—always the constant tension, and then those bursts of suspense!
Not to mention this is pretty much the first time Stein has willingly killed someone in the comic…
It’s probably the first time he’s ever seen anyone die so violently, too.
This deserves all the praise it gets!
but people are forgetting THE MASSIVE HOLE THAT IS NOW IN OUR (Hero?)
At least it wasn’t a serrated blade….but I’mma waiting for onep lot hole to be filled….
Is it bad that I missed the “plot” in there and read “one hole to be filled” and thought you were trying to say something dirty? ):
lol,with that typing error,no XD
Not serrated, but not exactly sharp. Getting stabbed with something that’s kinda blunt can do a lot of damage. Let’s hope he’s okay!
Schtein, I mean, not MacManus.
I definately ahree! After reading for so long he must’nt go like this!
The doc a badass now
Everybody gets so complacent when gloating… Stabwounds for everyone! Hurray!
these people all just have terrible problems with being way too confident!
Was anyone else’s first thought, “Oh snap, he gave him his bloodborne disease!”?
Yes.
Schtein is hardcore but mainly for pulling the knife out of himself.
Most folkses would probably faint, especially scientists and other less physically skilled/trained.
We’ll see how he feels when the adrenalin wears off.
I hope the Doctor doesn’t miss that kidney.
eh, you don’t need both anyway!
“What’s that? Dead body in cell 41B? Nope, nothing out of the ordinary here. Move along, folks.”
definitely not entrails. That’s just too gross, and also, I sort of doubt it would be a wound he could recover from.
This may be also set in a prison, but I’m not going for Riki Oh levels of gore (even though Riki Oh is awesome)
This is not going to go over well with the Warden.
Panel 6: Doc’s umbilical cord! :D
/giving you a hard time
Don’t give me a hard time, I’m sick a bloohoobloobloo ;_______;
oh wow
dr. S
uh oh i get this feeling the shit just hit the fan and dr. Sctien may have caused the warden more trouble than she thinks he’s worth
And now Drew continues on to break the 3rd rule of evil monologueing: Do not risk a monologue when the victim is in an EXTREME state of desperation/hysteria/corneredness with a weapon nearby. Panel 2!! Awesome!!
Love it Love it Love it!
oh no, my nose blood…!!
’bout time someone killed Nappa.
We all know what this means, though, right?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8MO2ShVBV0
Oh god yes! Yes! YES! Yessssssss! That is all.
I actually really really like the black and white on this page.
Wow… i did not expect the Doc to have more metal-parts than only the eyes…
Schtein used COUNTERATTACK! THE ATTACK WAS SUPER-EFFECTIVE! Ah, poor doc… He looks like he might be ill….
I like how much blood is everywhere. Soooo… the warden is going to be pretty pissed about this. But I very much doubt she will lay the hammer on him immediately, because she would have done so otherwise. This was awesome.
I dunno the last page looks really cool and dramatic in black and white
HOLY SHIT HE ACTUALLY DID IT
Isn’t it called a shiv? Shank is a verb, right?
Shank can be a verb, but it’s also a noun.
You can shiv with a shank, but you can’t shank with a shiv. You can only shiv with a shiv.
the complicated grammar rules of shivs and shanks
I didn’t see that coming.
….. Well, that didn’t go quite as planned.
there was a plan?
Obviously, it’s time to recruit Drew’s gang as his first set of incompetent super villain henchman.
Bye, McManus. :(
if Schtein is going to join that evil organization Phineas belongs too and be a super villain, he’s going to need to read the Evil Overlord list! Of course, it looks like he got a first hand lesson in the most important tip: Kill before monologue.

This definitely constitutes shit going down. Yikes!
I hope McManus hadn’t AIDS or something, ’cause with all that blood mix…
run, herv, run!!
dehlia, it’s been MONTHS!! where are you?? markus!!!!!!
Holy wow.
I don’t think I can say anything that hasn’t already been said on this turn of events, so I will say I am in love with panel 3, especially the background.
I hope that he gets revived somehow. I don’t see impending death yet!! Maybe he can be some sort of evil robot/cyborg? ^.^
Yay! Color!! In all it’s gory glory!
The black and white bloodbath was reminding me of Kill Bill. Which really isn’t a great thing.
Hurray!
Beautiful solve of the cliffhanger. However, If MacManus can heal that wound as fast as he did his Tazer burns, Schtein is in for a problem :P
I have a feeling he isn’t going to recover from being stabbed in the neck and BLEEDING TO DEATH. :[
A very strong feeling.
Jesus, now that it’s coloured, I can actually hear the shank going into and out of MacManus’ neck. Hearing the blood squirting is starting to freak me out a bit haha. This is all wonderfully done by the way. Schtein had better get into the infirmary quick.
