Father-in-law?? :[]
Really superb lighting in this one, the blue/orange contrast adds to the tension and growing panic they must be feeling.
Also, I’m not sorry Krow is dead, but, like, … why? He was just made an example of?
I think she would kill all three, but Krow’s the only one she actually can, politically. Phineas has family connections to the prison’s backers, so she can’t kill him without screwing her career. Given his legal status, the fact that Schtein’s even there instead of already executed probably means someone higher up wants him alive for some reason yet to be revealed, so as much as she might want to, she can’t actually kill him either.
Krow’s just ordinary random scum to her though, so he gets no such consideration.
You’re probably right. Krow turned into a red shirt (killed to show the seriousness of the situation), but various people pulling strings want those other two alive.
uh, red shirts don’t usually have personalities and stories, they’re just nameless guys who die next to kirk and spock for no reason on away missions. I don’t think Krow qualifies, sorry guys.
And this is when Jayjay comes back to save the day?
I’m going to keep posting this until it happens. I cannot accept him being a bad guy. My brain won’t allow it.
There’s a few more explosions, causing a distraction. Phineas and Stein are dragged off somewhere else where they can be murdered in peace (and secret, so Phineas’ father-in-law will keep paying).
The sun begins to come up over the desert. This is the last thing Stein and Phineas will see….
When suddenly BOOM, the ground shakes as a well-placed cannon shot takes out the guard with the gun! A tank rumbles over the hill. Atop this tank, framed by the rising sun, is Jayjay wearing a wife beater and a bandanna.
After slaughtering the guards with dual SMGs, Jayjay wakes up in a run-down motel at the edge of the desert 10 years later.
It ends with him writing into his diary: “I can’t get it out of my head. A dream of seven years. Everyday I have this. And sometimes I wake up and I don’t know where I am. I don’t talk to anybody. Sometimes a day – a week. I can’t put it out of my mind.”
Man, did Phineas just get randy off that blood spurt! He looks like a school girl in panel 5!
But really, do you REALLY say “I’d sooner die” to the person who JUST had someone executed in front of you? :\
Yeah, I’d say it’s pretty much exactly the point. Phin seems to be in “nothing to lose” mode, so he’s probably being literal, not just trash talking.
He might be betting on his political ties keeping her from pulling the trigger (using his life and therefore her career as a hostage/bargaining chip), but that doesn’t mean he’s bluffing.
Also, Phineas reminds me of a whiny teenager in the last panel.
I expect Romeo and Juliet analogs, should we ever see the couple reunited. (They consumed Mercurio and Tybalt, after keeping them in their sex dungeon for a week).
Ahh, Krow. Somehow I had you pegged as a goner from the start. Well that’s what y’get for doin’ bad stuff to ladies. But damn, how is Schtein ever going to get out of this one?
Oh goddamnit. I called it! Krow was going to die. But I seriously almost shed a tear when I saw that panel. I became attached to the little bugger.. I just..
I dunno.
*ducks and covers* this is going downhill fast! I would say “Just kill her Phineas!” But that would cause more problems than it would solve. Krow? Eh. Someone woulda killed him off anyways, better it be quick.
As someone who doesn’t like being grossed out/gore, I’ve got to say that your fourth panel is just a brilliant, effective, excellent show of how to portray violence with /class./
Never liked Krow so I’m cool with this, a little taken aback as I never expect characters to get killed off though 0_0 I love how limp wristed Schtien is, his body language is always so consistent with his character :D
B( I knew something like this was bound to happen. We loved ya while we knew ya, Krow. On his tombstone we can write “Serial rapist, murderer, #1 minion. He just wanted a friend.” This is probably for the best though, there was never a happy ending for Krow. Stay in prison, live the thug life. Get out of prison, go back to (As Phin so eloquently put it) crippling loneliness in a slimy basement. I totally love that Phin is actually smiling in the “Look at Krow’s corpse” panel, too.
Well, Phin … if you’d sooner die, you’ve got that warden right where you want her. Grab that arm, take her ass down to the dirt and snap her neck already.
Hoooolly shit. I think I just about pissed myself.
Well, there goes one of my favourite characters, down the drain. *sob* Such is life.
It’s tragic, but it was also done in such a beautifully artistic way, so I can’t be too disappointed.
Screw that. I’m pissed. You’ll be seeing R.I.P Krow fanart from me, Grundy!!
Just goes to show that skillfully written characters aren’t one-dimensional. Sure, he may have done some grisly murder things … but hey, he’s HELPFUL! Genuinely wants someone to like him!! NEEDS to be NEEDED!
People, how can you discuss this dead like that?i know this is a character in a webcomic. But … i have feelings of sadness? for Krow? i don’t know how that happen. Maybe I liked Krow, man…
Oh man, every development in this story makes me excited, but also makes me immediately know what happens next.
Maybe I should freeze myself, so I can just read the entire story in the future.
Dear GOD how much this comic’s changed. I LOVE how much you’ve done with this. The colors, the lighting, the quality of the artwork and perspective–it’s brilliant!!
goooooooood…………………….
noooooooooooo

I wasn’t aware that term had ever crept outside Trekdom, but Hi-five anyways. ^^
Redshirts are known everywhere now days! and yes…Krow was one.
uh, red shirts don’t usually have personalities and stories, they’re just nameless guys who die next to kirk and spock for no reason on away missions. I don’t think Krow qualifies, sorry guys.
If anything, he was a tan shirt… someone with a bit of story that you just had started to like, then WHAM! Or, anybody in George Martin’s books.
Krow!!! ..aw. I kinda liked his weirdness and teeth and awkward face.
I love how Phin is all blurry in panel 5. Super sweet.
Oh shit. What’s doc going to get?
…Son of a bitch .___. *freaking out a bit over here*
Oh. ;-; I thought something like this might happen.

Jayjay: First Blood
The entire time, he’s looking disapprovingly at people.
While I look on approvingly.
Wait! Jayjay is a good guy for trying to stop the doc. After all anyone who teams up with Mr. Cannibal is up to no good.
Not to say that Doc still isn’t the main character though, just that he is not a good guy.
That my friend is the very definition of “villain protagonist”

If you really /would/ sooner die, then yes, you do.

Yes, I’m curious to know where Phin’s actual EYES are in that panel–can’t tell what he’s grinnin’ out, eeh, ghoulish!
hhhhh-
KRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!
D:
Also, Phineas reminds me of a whiny teenager in the last panel.

oh my godsfhjsdl i am on the edge of my seat right now I CANT AAAAH
KROoooooooooow noooooooooooo!!
Loving the art in this page! Wow! So great.
is it okay if I’m not totally upset about krow dying?
also I really love that fourth panel, very simple but very effective!
Ahh, Krow. Somehow I had you pegged as a goner from the start. Well that’s what y’get for doin’ bad stuff to ladies. But damn, how is Schtein ever going to get out of this one?
There are some characters that only exist to die.
Wait… NitrusOxide from deviantART? like.. avenue q? rocky horror? phantom of the opera???
Good. I didn’t like him. NOW SHOOT PHIN TOO!
Oh goddamnit. I called it! Krow was going to die. But I seriously almost shed a tear when I saw that panel. I became attached to the little bugger.. I just..
I dunno.
I know that there’s all sorts of drama happening on this page, but I can’t get over Schtein’s disgusting, shingly hands.
just imagine them touching you
D:
the /real/ reason for his gloves?!
*ducks and covers* this is going downhill fast! I would say “Just kill her Phineas!” But that would cause more problems than it would solve. Krow? Eh. Someone woulda killed him off anyways, better it be quick.
True. Saves Phin the effort of taking out his anger on Krow later.
As someone who doesn’t like being grossed out/gore, I’ve got to say that your fourth panel is just a brilliant, effective, excellent show of how to portray violence with /class./
Finn has a FIL?
Funny, the pick up line “On your knees!” ends the same way for me too. WE SHALL BE TOGETHER AND LONELY FOREVER ELLY. C’MERE TO THE ICE CREAM COUCH.
So is Phin’s father-in-law Mr. Thanatos? It’s far too coincidental not to be true.
Krow’s gonna be alright, you guys.
He . . . he’s just takin’ a nap is all.
Just a very still . . . bloody . . . nap.
Without breathing.
NOOOOOOO! Not Crow. I totally wanted him to become Doc’s first official minion. Don’t you die on us.
S’okay. Maybe he’ll become Doc’s first official undead minion.
“Whoa Nelly’s” all around.
Love Schtein’s face in panel 5. I can just hear him going “Eeeeeee….”
Never liked Krow so I’m cool with this, a little taken aback as I never expect characters to get killed off though 0_0 I love how limp wristed Schtien is, his body language is always so consistent with his character :D
♩~Phinny, don’t be a hero, don’t be a fool with your life!~♩
B( I knew something like this was bound to happen. We loved ya while we knew ya, Krow. On his tombstone we can write “Serial rapist, murderer, #1 minion. Grundy, you’ve got to start updating on Mondays so every character can have the epitaph “Drawn by Grundy, died on a Monday.”
*snort*
The biggest reason I wanted Krow to live was to see him arm get amputated or something.
I love love love panel 5. Time stops in that second for Schtein. I can almost hear him hold his breath.
Krow’s dead left little to no impact on me… is that good or bad?
Depends. It’s possible you hated his character, for the fact he was criminal scum. There’s also the possibility that you’re a sociopath! ^-^
He died how he lived.
i love how armestus’ face looks in the fifth panel after crow is shot
It’s moments like these that make me realize that you’ve made me feel sympathetic for SERIAL KILLERS…That’s some pretty good writing
Just goes to show that skillfully written characters aren’t one-dimensional. Sure, he may have done some grisly murder things … but hey, he’s HELPFUL! Genuinely wants someone to like him!! NEEDS to be NEEDED!
Well, he did, anyhow.
People, how can you discuss this dead like that?i know this is a character in a webcomic. But … i have feelings of sadness? for Krow? i don’t know how that happen. Maybe I liked Krow, man…
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH every new page is so exciting!
Oh man, every development in this story makes me excited, but also makes me immediately know what happens next.
Maybe I should freeze myself, so I can just read the entire story in the future.
Weird. I’m not even sorry for Krow…
Hoh shiz, did not see that one coming…. Shame. I rather liked Krow.
Krow deserved it! No sympathy here from me.
Dear GOD how much this comic’s changed. I LOVE how much you’ve done with this. The colors, the lighting, the quality of the artwork and perspective–it’s brilliant!!
Oh wish I’d seen this sooner: vote for string theory! http://www.comicmix.com/news/2012/03/09/announing-mix-march-madness-2012-nominations/
“Ah, I was gonna marry that man.”
Is Schtein doing the Thriller dance?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA KROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
Oh god right in the heart…….. I loved that disgusting freak of nature
