Does this mean they are going to go to the same conference? Oh, I do hope so~ I wonder if she was requested and thats why Erick was so surprised! I can not wait to see what happens next.
By the by, I love his pensive/reflective face.
Sometimes I look at Schtein in a suit and think “Woah. The doc is more handsome than I remember.”
…Then I look at his face and laugh.
…Sorry, doc, but your nose and ears will always ruin your smoldering face.
Well, Schtein lost his slight paunch in prison and gained muscle, and also detoxed from his various drug addictions. But the living conditions and food were crap, the prison was in the middle of an irradiated zone, he got shot up with some new and exiting drugs, and he’s go right back to drinking I guess, so on the whole his body is probably still a wreck.
Funny, I first saw this word in Margaret Atwood’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” a couple of months ago. It was in the first paragraph of the book, and my teacher made a big deal about it’s meaning and use in establishing mood, so I remembered it :P
I remember you drawing something similar to this a while ago. The lighting and linework in this one is really fantastic though. Glad to see the growth in your art!
He’s probably the most interesting character and also, even though I’m sure not very many people agree, I find him attractive…too bad he’s captain of the crazy brigade
Excellent chapter cover, looks amazing.
Strongly reminds me of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, too – they used the same style. Was it intentional? Jensen there was a cyborg, too) his artificial eyes not so cool tho
Can a comment simply disappear? Oh well, it was just a silly observation. Otherwise, let me convey my extreme admiration for you and your beautiful, interesting, well-written comic.
it was fine, but I deleted it because it was encouraging more people to line up to tell me that it looked like _______ when that’s really not true. It’s uh you know it’s not really something an artist wants to hear and when it spurs like five more people to pop up to agree it’s like. AAAAAAAAAAA, come on guys what the hell :(
I appreciate the kind words, and I felt bad about deleting your comment, but yeah.
Staring out past a city backdrop, such a lovely scene in all mediums. I wonder if Schtein cared for color before he lost the ability to appreciate it. Still, he looks nice in a gray suit and it makes his eyes stand out even more hah.
Maybe just the place I’m at right now, but he reminds me slightly of The Doctor. Just the Weltschmerz and the suit and the odd sci-fantasy vibe of it. Also because now he seems a good deal more self-possessed.
Interesting title for the next chapter in Schtein’s life, given that a palimpsest is a word of ancient Greek and Latin origin origin meaning a parchment (or wax tablet) whose original writing has been erased (in the case of a parchment usually by carefully scraping off the upper-most layer that held the ink) so that it can be re-used. Medieval monks were prone to doing so, because parchment, made from young animal skins, was costly.[*]
Thus we have the metaphor for Schtein’s past is being erased and a new past being constructed, a new future being written on the blank canvas. Question is, by whom? Schtein himself? His mysterious benefactors who faked his death?
[* The Chinese invented paper around 100 AD. Arabs imported the knowledge of paper making into the Iberian peninsula and Sicily in the 10th century. But papermills didn’t appear in Northern Europe until 1400. And papyrus plants didn’t grow in Northern Europe. In some places like Scandinavia and Russia, people used strips of birch bark as scrolls to write on… if they could write… but mostly bark was steamed and used as a crafting material to make robust but light items of everyday use.]
I miss the bangs
Oh, sorry. They were called sideburns. Made him look awesome.
This is… less charismatic
he had them for like a week two years ago.
Yes! KILL ALL SIDEBURNS!
holy shit, take it down a notch. Sideburns kill your mom or something?
In this comic, something killing your mom probably makes you like it all the more.
I’ve always loved Herv. He’s always so cool with whatever. -n-“

he’s good at looking lost in thought and completely bored by it.
I love the way you dress your characters and I wish men dressed like that all the time in real life ;_;
Ha ha, me too, but I can’t blame ’em. Suits are heck of expensive.

hahaha aw it’s true
Suits do so much for guys…

Cheers to a new wallpaper. :P It’s that face, I just need it staring back at me every time I look at my desktop.
Awesome piece of work. I had to look up the word. :D I rarely do. I am happy.
haha excellent good. My goal is to make people bust out dictionaries.

yes it’s on my extras page, it’s from the april fools comic, but it wasn’t entirely non canon. So I redrew it because this is the moment it is from!
Lets talk business shall we?
Fantastic, dat outfit. I love drawing and seeing menswear. Great work on the lighting and cityscape too!
He’s probably the most interesting character and also, even though I’m sure not very many people agree, I find him attractive…too bad he’s captain of the crazy brigade
I like the look. He resembles a proper villain now, not just a crazy escaped inmate.
Wow, Stein is looking classy as fuck! Pretty dapper, at that.

Nuh uh, I’ve never played that. I hardly ever play new games. :/ No time.
I love his hazy reflection in the window!

For relaxing times…
make it Schtein time!
