Chp5 Page 3
Man, Dr. Schtein seems to legit really hate talking about his grandfather. This is like the millionth time someone’s tried to talk to him about it and the millionth time it’s really only agitated him.

oh hey its robbie
I am so confused here
God damn I love the way you draw hair.
No Abel no what are you doing with that bow tie, you are too cool for this.
:( bow ties are awesome
He wears a bow tie now, bow ties are cool.
God. Schtein’s face in the last panel is so mobster. He truly looks like a man you don’t wanna mess with, looking all pissed and irritated. Until now, his aggression has seemed to stem more out of defensive fear/general dickisness
hahah that’s totally the root cause, yes. He’s mostly just a dick.
Schtein comes off so terribly dickish in this page. Somehow I still love him. And damn, you really are kicking out some awesome pages as of late. Keep it up!
Doc hasn’t been in the comic for a few months. We’ve forgotten what a self centered turd he is. :(
To be fair, if I were him, I wouldn’t care either.
Love the colors on this page. But I can’t help but think of that meme about orange/blue color schemes…
The lighting in this room is incandescent yellow, so there was going to be some teals and blues. I could have made the lighting white or blue, I suppose, fancy new lightbulbs, but it doesn’t have that same sort of dingey, grungy, secretive feel that good ol’ incandescents have. Good ol’ creepy incandescents.
I’m going to admit that that meme kinda irritates me, but only because I find it completely baffling.
Haha, oh no, I completely agree. The meme’s good for a laugh but I don’t take it seriously. I was just saying that it pops into my head whenever I see orange and blue. :P
Never saw it as a meme per se (though maybe I’ve just been hanging out in the wrong places). The reason it’s a “thing” is thanks to movie studios overusing a cranked up to eleven version of it. It’s kinda become a mark of lazy cinematography/postwork in that regard, since it’s both super-easy and often apparently the only tool in the users’ toolbox. The aesthetic theory behind it is sound, but even brilliant stuff gets old if it’s overused, or used as a crutch, or used in a ham-handed way. In movies, at least, orange/teal has seen all three of those uses… a lot, and often simultaneously.
I must be seeing the wrong movies, I’ve never noticed it being use a bunch in them.
I do see it get used on a lot of videogame box art, but that’s really not surprising. It’s eye catching. Which is where my annoyance with the meme comes from. Are we going to go around and pretend to be surprised that neon signs are often red, next?
omg ronnie
Oh hey it’s ronnie.
shhhh :o
Oh man, all those serious faces D: I can feel it escalating, but like some sort of sitcom that is about to make me laugh. I do miss Schtien’s personality, even though the mob-like faces make it seem slightly different.
He looks scary, but he also looks so OLD. Like an OLD MAN. He’s probably feeling old, but he’s still only 32.
he’s 34. It’s just the white hair and grumpy eyes. If he were in a better mood he’d look younger. Maybe. Then again Osgood thought he was in his his 50s or so.
Angry old men angry-old-manning at each other.
Careful there, Ronnie, don’t have an aneurism.
Oh I also have to add that I am LOVING the three-piece Schtein is in right now. I am actually browsing vests to make that look be in my closet.
it’s certainly a step up from prison orange. Although, now I almost find myself missing it…
2nd to last panel = odd facial expression. First panel = great background comrade.
If I could marry this comic, I totally would….with your bless of course. >.>
Nope. There’s nothing you could possibly offer him that would get him to talk about his grandfather.
*is totally prepared to be proven wrong*
Haha, just read through the whole comic and loved it, dark and a bit vile for my tastes but such an interesting worldsetting and characters! Do I have it right that his wife turned out to be his roomie’s sister and neither of them know it or what?
they both know it. larry is just hiding it from alice.
Wrong. :D
oh really? i always read it like that…
What do you want with me?
Your grandfather!
WTF? You going to try and clone him out of me or what. Just wat.
Hold still, this won’t hurt a bit!
——
I… probably shouldn’t read this as two a.m. :D
I just love your art style, it’s somewhere between simplified realistic and cartoonish, and the lighting it’s just… well beautiful D: Anyway keep up the good work
So…this guy ISN’T Thanatos?
Or are the comments some kind of weird in-joke?
No, I’ve reached the (current) end!!!!! What am I gonna do now?????
Just kidding, I really love the comic so far (and am glad that I haven’t read through a good webcomic that is on indefinite hiatus; I hate when that happens). So I’m looking forward to more pages.
The art looks amazing, Beckey!
Also, it’s super exciting to be back with Schtein. Not to say that the Delia interlude was uninteresting, but I’m extremely excited to see how much of a trainwreck Schtein’s life is going to be! Mad science and bad decisions ahoy!
His face in the fourth panel *snort-cackle*
