I just wanted to say, Beckey, how much I love the fact you never cover characters with speech bubbles; you only ever obscure background. This way we can see every little subtle detail of their body language, something you render so beautifully.

SCHTEIN IS THE HIGHSCHOOL NERD ARCHETYPE. Unlike most nerds, however, he is kind of dangerous. And not in High School. He’s in jail.
I deduce from Mr. Jayjay’s comment in the fifth panel that the general prison populace is unaware that it was Schtein who ended Macmanus’s life. Did the prison warden – seeing as she “doesn’t want Schtein dead quite yet” – cover it up so the Aryans wouldn’t murder him?
hahah, that’s a bit of a logic leap from that comment. Word would get around. And he left MacManus’ cell dripping blood, that’s probably hard to miss.
Nah, the warden just scattered MacManus’s buddies to various blocks. They could probably still have him murdered if they wanted to, and probably just need a little bit of time to plan it out/bribe people. Usually someone in Schtein’s position would be sent to a special needs block, but elizabeth doesn’t want him entirely safe. Just safe for a little while longer.
But, if everyone knows it was Schtein, isn’t Mr. Jayjay’s comment a bit… redundant?

On the topic of Elisabeth’s vendetta, however, I am perplexed as to why she doesn’t simply have Schtein dragged to some basement and tortured. Like, with a blowtorch, needles and electric wiring. And drugs that induce somatosensory peripheral sensitization. And sleep deprivation and knives and.
I think the problem here is that you’re assuming Jayjay knows everything Schtein knows. He wasn’t there. He doesn’t know how quickly MacManus died, only that he did. He probably only knows the dude was stabbed.
uhhh because, for one, I don’t want to write THAT comic, and for seconds, because taking a more active role in hurting him like that probably crosses a line for her.

Well, at least now he doesn’t look like such a vampire. And the hair is now kinda reminiscent of Oz from Buffy, which is a heartwarming reference for me. Back when Seth Green was still young and relatively innocent… Right, derailing that mildly bisexual fridge logic right now.
In summary, I like the ‘do.
I never watched Buffy. I couldn’t really get into it. So the only thing I know about that show is that Giles is sexy. <:y

I honestly like the tousled front of Schtein’s hair. This is a problem: You don’t make a hack job look bad enough.
I think this makes Schtein look both younger and spiffier, so in some regards it probably fits his ambitions, such as they might be.
Am I the only one that thinks the shorter hair makes him look cuter? The gloves lost isn’t fun, but I get the feeling he’s brooding to keep his mind off it, considering he hasn’t flipped out even after the long walk back.
