One my favorite myths about radiation is that nuclear fusion is unnatural–despite of course that that’s how stars can remain stars. (Although, I think saying anything is unnatural can be relatively absurd, when you think about it too deeply.)
Oh my goodness, where to start. The colour is absolutely delicious. And I agree with alexds1: the heavy blacks mixed with the colour, oh man, I just want to look at the first panel of this page forever.
And the scenery! It is such a change from scientific-lab-backgrounds. I miss them, but these are so amazing!!
waaahhhhh! This is beautiful! I thought this was another comic for a moment, it’s so different. But I agree with the above- The use of black is perfect, and so is the general atmosphere. Is color going to be a regular thing now?
the posters are important, the graffiti’s not. The red one, if it weren’t for the shadow, would read ‘MATH’. There’s some guy here in Austin that spraypainted the word math all over riverside, where I used to live. It always amused me.
The background is so pretty. The colors are well-chosen. The eyes can go over them without them being distracting, but they’re still nice to look at. And all the little details that scream urbanization fit in just fine (like the posters, the graffiti, the buildings on the horizon), and they were put there so smoothly that it took me several moments to notice that this is not our time, but the future. That’s how natural (er… for a city-type place, I mean) everything looks.
The color looks great! I like that you’re still using those heavy blacks, I was ready to be sad about losing that but I guess now I don’t have to.
Haha! I love the reference to red Fiestaware, even though it’s not as dangerous as urban legend would have it.
People hear radiation and they instantly think OH NO CANCER.
Hah, I thought it was still being made in the 50s, but it makes sense that it ceased production in the early forties with the advent of nuclear bombs.

I’m glad I’m not the only one geeky enough to have caught this reference.
The color looks fantastic.
THEY LIVE IN GLASS DOMES
Glass domes gotta be my favorite vision of the future cliche.

This is particularly hilarious because it is SO WRONG. I can’t believe the 80s didn’t see global warming coming.
Hooray! The colors are gorgeous, and I too am glad that the use of black did not diminish. :)
Oooo, nifty! And I love all the details in the scenery!
Why the crystal domes? Is the air poisonous or something? D:
And Maureen looks crazy xD
they’re there to filter out contaminents in the dust and rain such as radiation and heavy metals. I’ll go more into it later.
The air outside of them isn’t poisonous, but it’s pretty heavily polluted.
lol, poor Delia…

Also, poor Delia…

Poor Delia looks very tired.
I’m guessing that “N.D.C.” stands for ‘New D.C.” or something?
Delia’s colored!
In more ways than one!
That’s quite an offcolor remark!
Do they live in domes”
Depending upon where they are in the country and what air quality is like there, yes.
Wish I could get a closer look at that graffiti in the background… I have the feeling it’s important somehow.
